Medical Exam & More Smiles

Today was another early day, we went downstairs to check out the breakfast in our new hotel.  Quite possibly the biggest and most delicious breakfast buffet we've ever seen!  We caught a few little smiles at breakfast...

We also met quite a few adoptive families. We got picked up at 9 am to go to the healthcare clinic to get Audrey's medical exam, which is a requirement of the CDC for all immigrants. Uh oh, where are we going today.......
First stop was getting her picture taken, then height and weight...

Next was an ENT exam...

Then blood drawn for the TB test. Not too much fun...

General exam...

Finally were done!  Now I can smile again!

Our agency has 2 hotels they let people stay at so they go between the 2 & pick up other families. Beautiful Christmas decorations at the hotels...

We finished up more adoption paperwork with Richard & had free time the rest of the afternoon & evening. It is amazing to see how much Audrey has changed in the last 24 hours. She's now frequently smiling, laughing, babbling, imitating us, touching everything, and walking around more. She's also not afraid to reach out & grab her food to feed herself anymore. At dinner we found out she loves canteloupe & watermelon. We couldn't cut it fast enough for her to grab & eat it. She also learned how to drink out of the sippy cup we brought her & has been having a ball carrying it around.

She seems so proud of herself with each thing she masters. It has been so fun to watch her!  Tomorrow & Monday are both siteseeing days, as we wait for our appointment with the U.S. Consulate which is Tuesday.

  1. We love seeing all the smiles. She is certainly a beautiful little girl. The pictures have all been great. First thing I do each morning is check for new pictures. Can't wait to kiss those little cheeks. God's blessings on the remainder of this journey.

  2. I'm catching up on my reading of your posts for the last few days and these are so exciting! She's really coming out of her shell! I wonder if she's enjoying seeing that there are so many other families in Guangzhou within your hotel that resemble your family and that's also helping her feel relaxed and happy too? For Nash, it probably went over his head being younger, but I wonder if observing that is comforting to Audrey. Hey, please take a picture of you guys at the "green restaurant". :) The hotel looks beautiful decorated for Christmas!
